Well, here it is. The conclusion of Union. After long hours on this
computer, I finally was able to put this thing together. Believe me it
took numerous hours of character study of both Phoebe and Kristin. I really
hope you guys like it. The story might drag on a little, I don't know for
sure, but you be the judge. Tell me what you think. E-MAIL ME! =)

DIRSKINNER "THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE"

P.S. I was thinking about adding one more part to this story. It's kinda
up to the rest of you guys, but I'll give you a preview: Mulder reminisces
over the leaving of Kristin. A new case is brought to light. And Phoebe's
back!! The war continues next time on the "X - FILES".

The figure stepped closer to Mulder's view so that he could see her face.
And she answered < It's me, Kristin Kilar. >
Mulder stared in amazement, he couldn't believe his eyes. Memories began
to run through his mind about the times he had shared with Kristen before
she died. He thought to himself, "Could it be her? It couldn't be..she's
dead!"
<No, Mulder. I'm very much alive>, she replied.
<How...? How did you know what I was thinking,> he questioned. Kristen
approached Mulder and kissed him lightly on the lips.
<I'll explain everything, in due time. We have a lot of catching up to do.
Let us find a more suitable place to talk,> she answered. Mulder kindly
escorted her to the car, and they drove back to his apartment.

They walked quietly down the dimly lighted hallway. As Mulder approached
his apartment he noticed a audio tape lying partially underneath his door.
  <What's that?> Kristin asked.
Mulder replied, <Oh, nothing.>, and he quickly kicked the tape down the
hall. He opened the door and followed Kristin in. As he reached for the
light switch, Kristin grabbed his wrist and said...<Don't! You know I like
the dark.>
Mulder oddly looked at her and replied, <Okay!?>
<Well, here it is! The home of the FBI's most unwanted.> said Mulder.
With a mysterious smile she replied, <It's very nice. But your certainly
not the most unwanted.>
Mulder smiled. <So are you gonna fill me in on what happened?> Just as
Kristin was about to speak RING.....RING.....RING..
Mulder picked up the phone and spoke, <Mulder.>
  Scully answered, <Hey, it's me Scully. I couldn't sleep. I guess I was
around you too long in quarantine. I've grown to dependent on you Mulder.
Would you like to get a drink? I just need someone to talk to that I can
trust.> Mulder knew he was in a sticky situation. Should he stay or go see
Scully? He thought... Scully and a drink... for once not talking about
work... a once in a lifetime opportunity... or... Kristin... a person that
was dead but now alive.
Mulder looked at Kristin and spoke into the receiver, <Uh... Scully, I
really have to pass. This is a bad night.>
<.......bad night? Why did the video "Naked Alien Babes" arrive in the
mail today? {she giggled}>
<No, uh, I have a lot of things to catch up on, I'll see you at work
tomorrow, Scully,> Mulder regretfully replied.
<Well....okay! See you tomorrow.> and Scully hung up.
<Is this a bad time to be here?> Kristin questioned.
  <No! Stay. It's okay,> Mulder answered insistently.
Kristin looked at him with an expression of love, <No, I better let you
get some rest. Meet me tomorrow at midnight. Same place.> Kristin stood up
and kissed Mulder on the lips, and headed towards the door.
Mulder shot up and replied, <Wait!! Don't go. You left once, don't do it
again.>
She opened the door and looked back at Mulder, <Don't worry, I'll
come back!> And she left.
Mulder knew that he had to do something. He rushed towards the door and
swung it open. As he looked down the both directions of the hallway, Kristin
was nowhere in sight. He lost her again, he thought. He slowly moved back
into his apartment, and as he reached to close the door he noticed the same
audio tape that he kicked down the hallway, back in front of his door.
Strange, he thought. Mulder picked up the tape and went inside.

Mulder sat down on the couch and stared at the tape and wondered, <Should
I play this? This could be important information from my source, or it could
be another one of Phoebe's childish attempts to lure me into her game.
I'll take my chances!> He threw the tape into the wastebasket next to his
desk. All night he sat on the couch staring out the window wondering where
Kristin was.

FBI HEADQUARTERS
6:15 a.m. Day 2

A tired Fox Mulder staggered into his office. He picked up his mail from
the inbox and sat down at his desk. He examined his mail and to his surprise
he noticed a case that he forgot to put back in the filing cabinet. The file
was labeled: "X - File # X256922VW ...... "Trinity Killers." He remembered
that this was the case about Kristin. All of a sudden the office door swung
open, it was Phoebe!
  <Greetings, Agent Mulder.> she said.
<Don't you ever give up? You know I have a life to get on with.> Mulder
responded. Just as Phoebe was about to speak, Scully enters the scene.
Scully stops in the doorway when she sees Phoebe. Phoebe doesn't notice
her, but Mulder does!
Phoebe continued, <No ,Mulder, I'm not going to give. We have a lot going
for us. At least more than you and your pittly little partner have. For God
sakes', you work in the basement. Is this what you call a life? You remember
don't you, the times we had.>
Mulder responded with the sound of regret, <Must you continue to bring
that up whenever your here.>
<That is what binds us together, Mulder.>, Phoebe quietly responded.
Phoebe moved closer towards Mulder. <You can't ever put out our fire,
Mulder. It's an undying flame that......>
<Well, he may not be able to but I certainly can,> with a smile Scully
interrupted. Phoebe turned around and eyed Scully. Scully looked at Mulder
then Phoebe, <Didn't you learn from the first time, Mulder? Fire is very
dangerous and needs to be extinguished.>
  Phoebe responded, <Agent Scully, I didn't.....>
<No, today's it Fire Chief Scully. I'm here to help put out the fire,> she
rebutted. Mulder just sat there smiling.
<Agent Scully, Mulder and I are discussing some private matters and.....>
<I don't care. (and Scully grabbed Phoebe by the arm) either get out by
yourself or I'll help you! I'm sure you wouldn't like that,> said Scully,
continuing to smile. Refusing to leave, Scully pulled Phoebe towards the
door and pushed her out. Phoebe tried to get back in, but Scully closed and
locked the door in Phoebe's face.
<You obviously needed a longer vacation!> replied Mulder with a smile.
<Aren't you going to thank me? You should take Phoebe's advice, you should
learn not to make the same mistake twice.>
Mulder looked at Scully. <Okay, okay! I've learned my lesson.>
Scully looked at the case file in Mulder's hand, <What's that?>
Mulder looked at the file and then shoved it into the desk drawer,
<Oh, nothing.> Scully got a suspicious feeling and looked at her partner.
<I swear it's nothing!> Mulder insistently replied.
<Okay. So what's she doing in town?> Mulder blankly looked at the desk
drawer that contained the file about Kristin. <Mulder... Mulder! Are you
okay?>
<Yeah, sure. Uh...we have don't a new case assigned to us yet so I figured
that we could investigate a few of the old cases.>
<Are you sure Mulder. I mean you look pre-occupied. Phoebe didn't already
get to you did she?>
<No nothing like that. Listen, I gotta go check on some thing, I'll be
back later.> Mulder got up and left the office.
Scully waited a few minutes to make sure Mulder had left, and then she
went for the desk drawer. She opened the drawer to reveal the X- File:
"Trinity Killer." <Why was he so concerned about this?> she thought.
While collecting his thoughts about Kristin, Mulder found himself having
walked to Union Station. He glanced at the place where he saw Kristin, and
thought <I wonder where she is?>
Back at the office, Scully examined the file, and the only reoccuring
name in the reports seemed to be a Ms. Kristin Kilar. Then she noticed the
same name written on a notepad on Mulder's desk. She immediately called
Special Agent Drake in the FBI's Federal Location Center and asked him to
find out for her all the information about one Kristin Kilar.
A few hours later, Agent Drake processed the information about Ms. Kilar
to Scully. The report only stated that Kristin Kilar was declared missing
and presumed dead in Los Angeles, California, and the last person to see her
was Special Agent Fox Mulder: Field Investigator.
All of a sudden, Mulder came through the door. <Hey, Scully! Is that our
new assignment?>
<Uh... well... no, it uh...> Mulder approached Scully, and just as she was
about to put it in her briefcase, he grabbed it.
<Okay, let's see here> His eyes focused person locator report, and saw
Kristin's name on it. Mulder looked at Scully, <Oh, isn't it nice to be
suddenly so highly regarded.>
<Mulder, I wanted to find out what's troubling you. I care about you.
Ever since Phoebe...>
<This has nothing to do with Phoebe.>
  <Mulder, I.....>
  <No, it's okay Scully. Forget about it.>
  <Mulder I'm sorry. I just....>
<It's really okay. Forget it.> Mulder smiled at Scully, <Let's just
continue with what we're supposed to be doing.>
The day went by quickly, and Mulder found himself back at home staring
at the clock. 10:01 P.M. the clock read. Mulder couldn't sleep, he had to
see her again. Finally, the time was almost near, Mulder left for Union
Station.
The dense fog surrounded the station. A lone figure could be seen
standing between the pillars. Mulder anticipated with excitement, screeched
the car to a halt. He walked up the steps and approached the figure. <Do
you think your afraid?>
  <No.>
<Do you believe that I am what you believed me to be?>
  <And what is that?>
Kristin stepped closer to Mulder, <One of them. One that preys on the
blood of others.>
  <How?>
<I tasted the blood of a believer. I have become one of them. It's
real.> Mulder stared at Kristin in silence. <I came to you to say good-bye.
I don't want to hurt; although, I can't bear to be without you. Mulder, you
can't protect me any longer.> She leaned over and kissed him passionately.
<I must go now, but I'll always remember you. I... love you....> Mulder
still in shock at evidence, couldn't bring himself to respond.
<You don't have to say a word...I know how you feel about me....Good-bye>
Mulder watched as Kristen disappeared in to the fog. A single tear fell
down Mulder's cheek. <Good-bye.>
